We all need hope. According to CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics, the life expectancy in the U.S. is dropping. Studies show the decline is due to the suicide rate and deaths from substance abuse. The word being used to describe the root of the problem is despair.
Perhaps we are in despair because we don’t know what to hope in? So many things fail us. Circumstances don’t work out, people hurt us, a sense of purpose eludes us, and we can’t even count on our own two feet to carry us on healthy paths. We all need hope.
Ragged Mountain Bible Church holds worship services at the Danbury Community Center at 9:30 AM.
Many folks in town know the story behind this faithful flock that has put their hope in God. We have waited patiently for a family friendly place to meet, where we could invite folks in and love them and encourage them to have hope. We invite anyone and everyone to come learn about the God of the Bible and His great love shown through Jesus Christ. We do have hope!
Usually we think of the word “hope” more as wishful thinking. But in the Bible, hope is a sure thing, because it is setting your heart on the truth.
“The LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.” –Psalm 147:11
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” – Hebrews 10:23
“…rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;” 1 Peter 1:13b
Isaiah 55:12 – “For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if everyday was like this? But, we know that’s not the case. There is a way we can experience joy, singing, fun and fellowship. As well as the peace and understanding that knowing God through His Word can bring. Ragged Mountain Bible Church teaches and encourages folks through a detailed verse by verse study with practical application. Our Statement of Faith is:
-
We believe in the absolute authority and accuracy of the sixty-six books of the Bible. We believe that every word was breathed by God as they were originally written, and that the Bible is our only rule for faith and practice. (2Tim. 3:16-17; 2Pet. 1:19-21; Matt. 5:18)
-
We believe that there is only one God. That He created, preserves and rules all that exists. We believe that His holiness and love are prefect. We believe that His wisdom and power have no boundaries. We also believe that the “ONE God” has made Himself known to man in three persons; i.e. as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; Ne. 9:6; Is. 45:18, 21; 1 Jn. 4:16-18; Matt. 28:19)
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God and that it has always been and always will be this way. We believe that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born in the flesh to a virgin named Mary. We also believe that Jesus is truly God and man and that he is the only one who can mediate peace between man and God. (Matt.1:18, 20, 23; Lk. 1:35; Jn. 1:1,2,14; 8:58; 14:9; 1Tim. 2:5; CoI.1:14- 18; 2:9)
-
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, whose ministry is to convict the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment, to regenerate the unbelieving, and to seal, sanctify, teach and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit makes believers of repentant sinners, baptizes each into the body of Christ at the time of new birth, assures them of heaven, and by His indwelling enables Christians to live a godly life. It is the privilege and duty of every believer to be constantly controlled by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer at the time of salvation unto the day of redemption, gifting each for Christian service. We believe that our sovereign God bestows spiritual gifts as He wills in every age for the ministry and perfecting of the Church. (Cf.1Cor. 12:4-7) (Jn. 3:3, 7; 16:8; 14:6; 1:3; Rom. 8:9,12; 1 Co. 3:16; 12:4-13; 14:6-12; Rom.12; Eph. 1:13- 14; 5:18; 3:16)
-
We believe that mankind was created in the image of God by direct creation individually as man or woman distinctly (Gen. 1:26, 27), and that they sinned and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death; thus, we believe that all mankind by nature and by choice are sinners and, apart from Christ, shall be forever separated from God. (Ge. 1:26; 2:17; Ez. 18:20a; Rom. 6:23)
-
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a sacrifice in our place, that all who believe on Him are made righteous on the basis of His shed blood. (1Cor. 15:3- 4; Rev. 1:5)
-
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith, not of works, and that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are born again of the Holy Spirit, thereby becoming children of God. We believe in the eternal security of the believer. (Eph. 2:8-9; Jn. 3:3-7; 10:27-29; Rom. 8:28-30; 10:9-10)
